چکیده

Organophosphate pesticides exert their toxic effects by cholinesterase inhibition and the consequent prolongation of the undesirable effects of accumulation of acetylcholine. The signs of toxicity include tremors, convulsions, lachrymation, defecation etc. However, sustained cholinesterase inhibition through sustained administration of organophosphates would lead to the gradual disappearance of the initial signs of toxicity over time, termed behavioral tolerance. The present study was undertaken to examine the activity levels of cholinesterases in different regions of rat brain during the development of behavioral tolerance to the organophosphate phosalone. Male albino rats were given a daily oral dose of phosalone (41.35 mg, equivalent to 1⁄4 of LD50) every day for 15 days and the activities of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) and

Effect of anticholinesterase compound phosalone on blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability.

To elucidate the role of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme in BBB function, phosalone, an organophosphorous compound, was studied using rat brain micro vessels in vitro. Phosalone at 100 mg/kg b. wt. induced convulsions and caused a significant inhibition of AChE resulting in increased permeability as assessed by volume distribution. The anaesthetized phosalone treated group also increased per...

Changes of serum level of acetylcholinesterase enzyme in lipopolysaccharide-induced model of depression in mice

Background and Objective: Depression is a common disorder, especially in developed countries. Functional changes of cholinesterase are involved in pathogenesis of some brain disorders. Until now, exact association of these changes with depression has not been determined. This study was conducted to evaluate the changes of serum cholinesterase in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced model of depress...

بررسی تاثیر داروی ان- استیل سیستئین بر کاهش استرس اکسیداتیو ناشی از پاراکسون در بافت‌های مغز و قلب

Introduction: Organophosphate (OP) pesticide is used as chemical warfare nerve agents against both military and civilian population during the Iran–Iraq War. Paraoxon (POX) as an OP acts via the inhibition of cholinesterase and disturbance in body antioxidant systems. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) as an antioxidant against POX- induced oxid...

Brain Functional Connectivity Changes During Learning of Time Discrimination

The human brain is a complex system consist of connected nerve cells that adapts with and learn from the environment by changing its regional activities. Synchrony between these regional activities called functional network changes during the life, and with learning of new skills. Time perception and interval discrimination are among the most necessary skills for the human being to perceive mot...
